"Happy
Birthday to Mint!" ... Because today is our special
day, both of us plan to have lunch together. This time,
we will try dim sum at "Golden Leaf" -- a Chinese
restaurant at
The Imperial Mae Ping Hotel. Though coming to
this place many times, including on Oat's birthday
last year ("Together
at Birthday Feast"), we have never tasted dim sum
here before. Because we have heard that dim sum lunch
at "Golden Leaf" is so delicious, today it is a good
occasion to try. ... And now, just go to "Golden Leaf
Chinese Restaurant" and find out that dim sum there is
really tasteful, or not?
Right: The
atmosphere inside "Golden Leaf" (The
Imperial Mae Ping Hotel) during lunch time.
Arriving at the restaurant
about noon, we are about the first guest to take
lunch. The waitress ask if we want to choose a buffet
"dim sum" (all we can eat) or an "a la carte" menu.
Comparing between these two alternatives, we do not
hesitate to go for buffet after making a rough
calculation. Though taking buffet has a bit limitation
-- without "Royal Dim Sum Selection" (dim sum with
special assortments, i.e. shark's fin or scallop,
stuffed inside) on the list -- we are happy enough
with the normal "Dim Sum Selection" or the main menu.
After making a decision
for buffet, the waitress serves us with an appetizer,
"mixed deep fried dim sum". The "starter" seems to be
the "finisher" for us since it takes too much space in
our stomach. So, we would like to recommend you guys
picking up only your favorite items. From our comment,
you should not miss "Deep Fried Taros", "Deep Fried
Bean Curd Sheet with Minced Prawns" and "Deep Fried
Stuffed Rice Buns with Minced Pork and Chives". A
moment later, the waiter return with "Kuay Tiew Lord"
or "Noodle Rolls" -- recommended only with "shrimps"
stuffed inside, rather than two others ("imitated
crab-meat" and "barbeque pork").

Rolls with Shrimps (Right).
After a few sets of starters, now it is real
time for our "dim sum" meal. The waitress serves us with many baskets of
dim sum. All of them look very delicious, so we do not hesitate to taste
everything in front of us. Trying variety kinds of "dim sum", we find that
the taste is really delicious and better than any other restaurants that
we have ever tried in Chiang Mai. And now we have to tune up the speed for
eat-mode and try to complete all of them.

(Left), "Ha Kao", Shrimp Dumplings (Middle) and "Fhan Ko", Minced Shrimp with
Vegetables Dumplings (Right).
While trying to finish the "dim sum", the
waitress come back again with "Sweet and Sour Soup" and "Chicken Chow Mein"
(fried noodle). At this time, we almost shut down our eat-mode. Everything
seems to be slow down and we can only take a sip of soup and a few bites
for "Chow Mein" before leaving the rest of them in the bowls. However, we
still have room for dessert because the waitress serves us the favorite
"Tao Huay (or Agar Dessert) with Fruit Salad". Even though we are very
full with this meal, we are so happy with the yummy "dim sum" here.

Today, we have only "lunch meal together" as
an extra program for Mint's birthday. By the way, we have already planned
for more extraordinary schedule to celebrate this special moment. One week
from now, we will go to the Southern Region of Thailand for a vacation
by-the-sea as our "4th Honeymoon" -- "Phuket
Paradise". ... "See you again soon!" |
